Usually, the mood swings are experienced during the first trimester and third trimester as your body changes to get prepared for the birth of a baby.
First Trimester Mood Swing Triggers – There are about 70% of pregnant women who experience morning sickness. Discomforts of pregnancy also cause emotional distress. Sometimes feeling nausea and vomiting can also be triggered. The stress of being unaware of when you might feel sick also triggers mood swings. Women who had experienced miscarriage or infertility might get worried about losing her baby. This fear worsens in the first trimester when most of the miscarriages happen.

How to Cope Up With Pregnancy Mood Swings?
Though mood swings are inevitable during the trimesters of pregnancy, but you can easily cope up with them with proper care.
Get Exercise- Exercise is a great stress reliever and mood booster for anyone who is experiencing mood swings. If you are feeling crabby just start with low cardio, walking or swimming. Fresh air will invigorate you and you will soon feel refresh. Yoga & meditation are immensely helpful to release stress and worries where you can learn to breathe, and stretch.
Prioritize Your Sleep- When you are pregnant, it is important for you to get quality sleep. In the first trimester, pregnant women sleep a lot. In the third trimester, you may struggle to get comfortable which might lead to a lack of sleep. Fatigue causes more severe mood swings. If possible take the nap during the day.
Eat Well- Lack of food may also cause undesirable outbursts, so you need to eat well during our pregnancy. Get a balanced diet chart and follow that to stay healthy and active. Energize your brain with nutritious meals and snacks, to fuel your body. Sustain energy to stay calm and relaxed.
Talk to Your Loved Ones- Make sure you stay in touch with your friends, family members who can understand what you are going through and feeling. Also, you can stay connected with the expected mom who can understand you and make you feel comfortable. You can either join a community or group through the social media platform.
Meet Counselor- Sometimes you need a professional who can help you in coping with the mood swings during your pregnancy. Women usually contact counselors who are always there to help you cope with pregnancy and childbirth which is a major life change.
